The McKee-9 well bore was abandoned by removing the 2-7/8in production tubing, pulling the 5 1/2 casing from 650m AH, and setting a 15.6ppg cement plug from 647 to 516 metres. The plug was drilled out to 600m and kick-off of McKee-9A was achieved at 602m on June 8th, 2000. McKee-9A targeted potentially bypassed oil in the overthrust McKee Formation and intersected 93m of McKee Sandstone, before reaching a total depth of 2280m AHBKB, eight metres into the overthrust Mangahewa Formation. Wireline log interpretation indicated a net play of 92m, with 14m of gas, 63m oil bearing and 15m of probably water bearing formation. The well was completed as a production well.
