The Makino-1 was spudded on 10 December 2001 to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of the Tariki Sandstone reservoir with the Makino Prospect. The Tariki Sandstone, tikorangi Formation and Rimu Limestone were not encountered. The absence of these units can be attributed to the well drilling a considerably thicker than prognosed Murihiku section. Makino-1B encountered the Kapuni formation underlying and in fault contact with the Murihiku thrust block. Elevated mud gas reading and fluorescence were observed in the interval 4446-4450 metres in the Kapuni Group. Total depth was reached at 4555m on March 2002. Makino-1, 1A, 1B was suspended for a later sidetrack. Also included is A Scientific Drilling International Report of a Keeper Drop Gyro Survey and A Well Summary Report
