PEP60093, offshore Taranaki Basin, was awarded to OMV New Zealand Ltd in April 2015. This report discusses a Source Rock Geochemistry Study that was carried out as part of Stage 1 (Committed Activities) for the permit. This study incorporates data from the OMV NZ p:IGI database examining a selection of wells containing Cretaceous samples from within and close to PEP 60093, in comparison with a larger subset from within the Taranaki Basin and previously run basin modelling. This work confirms previously held beliefs that the Cretaceous samples have excellent organic yields, especially within the coal sections, and are of mixed oil and gas prone Type III kerogen.
