Cheal-B7 is a deviated exploratory well designed to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of an upper Miocene amplitude anomaly in PMP 38156. The primary target of this well was at the MM3 horizon with secondary targets of anomalies in the Urenui Formation. Cheal B7 was drilled by Ensign Rig 19, and was spudded on 13 January 2012. A total depth of 2052.0m MD (1678.23 TVD) was reached on 26 January 2012. Fair to very good oil shows were seen in the primary target. After wireline logging the well was cased, completed and perforated as a Mount Messenger Producer.
