Cheal-A8 is a deviated exploratory-appraisal well designed to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of an upper Miocene amplitude anomaly in PMP 38156. The primary target of the well was the in the Urenui Formation. Cheal-A8 was drilled by Ensign rig 19, and was spudded on October 14, 2011. A total depth of 1585m MD was reached (1502m TVD) on 20 October 2011. Good oil shows were encountered while drilling through the reservoir target, and after wireline logging the well was cased, completed and perforated as a Urenui Formation producer.
