This report gives the results of thermal maturation and migration modelling of PEP 38485 in the Taranaki Basin. Inferred heat flow in the region varies from 39.5 to 57.2 mW/m2, typical of an old thermally subsiding post rift or passive margin. The Waipawa Black Shale is modelled as reaching maturity for oil expulsion at 15 My but dominantly within the last 5 My. It is presently expelling oil across a broad area roughly east from the Kora wells to Tangaroa-1. The current model successfully explains the dry wells drilled in the area to date and does predict small quantities of oil in the region of the Kora volcano, but does not have sufficient resolution to model individual Kora wells in its present form.
