Fireball Creek-1 was drilled in February to April 2008, and was planned as an appraisal of the gas discovery made in 1942 in PEP 38521, West Coast, South Island, New Zealand. The well was drilled to a total depth of 401m in the Omotumotu B sands of the Kaiata Formation. No oil shows were seen, but gas peaks were seen in the A sands, and to a lesser extent in the B sands. Fireball Creek-1 was plugged and abandoned. This report summarises the main geological findings from the well and subsequent geophysical mapping.
