Huinga-1B & 1B ST1 Well Completion Report.

Huinga-1B kicked off from Huinga-1 on then14 April 2002 from 815m and drilled through Manutahi, Urenui and Mangabui Formations. The top of the Murihiku Supergroup thrust block was encountered at 2597m. At 4373m the drill string parted at the top of the monel leaving the bit, near-bit stabiliser and monel downhole. Huinga-1B was plugged back and sidetrack Huinga-1B ST1 kick off at 4310m. Mixed Murihiku and Kapuni Group Lithologies were encountered below 4365m, and quartz sandstones of the Kapuni Group below 4381m. Huinga-1B ST1 reached a total depth of 4500. The Kapuni Group was tested and recovered oil. However poor cuttings returns due to losses, and the inability to obtain wireline logs severely affected evaluation of this interval. The well was shut in on the 4th October 2002.
