Clematis-1 (PEP38720) was drilled as an exploration well to test stacked seismic amplitude anomalies, identified within the Mt Messenger Formation. The secondary objective was to test amplitude anomalies seen within the Matemateonga and Urenui Formations. Clematis-1 was spudded on 10 December 1999 penetrating Matemateonga at 215 m KB and the top of the Mt Messenger Formation at 832 m KB. Clematis-1 reached a total depth of 1800 m KB on 20 December 1999. The well was plugged and suspended on 24 December 1999 as a dry hole.
