Three Year Exploration Programme 1984-1987

The onshore exploration programme for 1984-1987 emphasised drillable prospects as verified by the 1983 and earlier seismic surveys. It also included leads discovered by the 1983 Taranaki and 1982 Gisborne programmes, plus some prospects over which limited amounts of confirmation seismic will be needed. Only confirmation seismic was planned for 1984-1987. In 1984 400km was planned for PPL 38034, 150km for PPL 38082 and 44km for PPL 38078. In 1985 125km was planned for Taranaki and 100km for Gisborne. In 1986 125km was planned for Taranaki. The onshore drilling programme for 1984-1987 assumed a two rig operation. Drilling would be continuous and would aim at proving up gas-prone structures using Rig 17 and oil-prone structures using Rig-16.
