The purpose of this report is to recommend a telecommunications philosophy to assist with the safe and efficient exploitation of the McKee Oil Field in North Taranaki. The philosophy embodied in the recommendations in this report will result in a telecommunications system that will be consistent with the authors philosophy for the provision of communications to offshore exploration. Should it prove desirable, some integration of services would be both possible and beneficial. In general the report recommends the use of standard Post Office telephone and radio circuits along with Corporation supplied mobile radio and facsimile equipment to provide an efficient integrated communications system. Careful selection of Post Office services and routes will ensure a level of redundancy is provided so that circuit failures will not jeopardise the safe and efficient exploitation of the field.
