Operations and Final Reports on West Coast, North and South Island, PEL 687, 688, 711, 712.

This report is the result of an extensive geological and geophysical exploration effort. It attempts to integrate into one presentation the relationship of the known onshore geology with unknown offshore geology of the North Whitney Petroleum Exploration Licence 687. The aim was to evaluate the hydrocarbon prospectiveness of PEL 687. A reconnaissance marine seismic survey was conducted in 1967 and uncovered two structural leads called Kiwi and Moa. The two leads were detailed by a second seismic survey, early in 1968, and remained essentially originally outlined. The data quality of the second survey is excellent and enabled a more detailed analysis to be made. It is recommended that both the Kiwi and Moa structures be tested with wildcats.
