Geological assessment of the Pouawa area mentioning stratigraphy, structural features and likely oil and gas horizons. It is concluded that in view of the fact that the stratigraphy and regional features of this area are better understood now, its value should increase accordingly. There is strong evidence for supposing that a major overthrust fault, which is intersected by a normal fault, can be traced for at least eight miles. If future developments in the Poverty Bay district is dependent upon the drilling along Fault contacts or upthrust earth blocks, then this area should be reviewed and study made of the faults and the detailed distribution of the rocks in the central Cretaceous area.
