Greymouth Structural GIS & SEEBASE Project: Phase 2

Login to download

FrOG Tech Pty Ltd was contracted in 2012 by Comet Ridge NZ Pty Ltd. to provide additional work on the GIS and SEEBASE project within PMP 50100 and PEP 50279, Greymouth. This project known as Phase-2 builds on the Phase-1 project undertaken in 2010 (PR5588). Objectives of Phase 2 include enhancement and processing of AGG data, and the refinement of the Phase 1 SEEBASE map of basement and coal distribution map in the survey area. Results include the identification of three major fault sets which control the deposition and uplift of Paparoa Group sub members. Based on structural observations and detrital quartz provenance it is suggested that the Greymouth area was located north of its present position until the deposition of Paparoa Group. It is recommended that a regional Kinematic fault study be undertaken to further constrain plate reconstructions and paleogeography.
