Cheal-B6 was drilled to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of an upper Miocene amplitude anomaly in PMP 38156. The primary target of the well was the Mt Messenger and Urenui Formations. Cheal-B6 was drilled by Ensign Rig 19, and was spudded on December 28 2011. A total depth of 1764m MD was reached on 3rd January 2012. Fair to good oil and gas shows were encountered while drilling through both reservoir targets, with free oil observed at the surface while drilling the Urenui A sandstone. After wireline logging the well was cased, completed and perforated as a producer.
