Birchwood-1 Well Completion Report

Birchwood-1 was drilled between 23 July and 6 September 2007 to a TD of 543.3m MD, located in the Ohai Basin, Southland. This well intersected both the Beaumont Coal measures and Morley Coal Measures. Drilling was stopped before the well reached the New Brighton Conglomerate due to drilling difficulties. Various tests were undertaken including desorption and vitrinite reflectance. A large amount of coal was encountered and the well was capped and suspended for future testing.
