Revised Biostratigraphy and Well Correlation, Canterbury Basin, New Zealand

This report reviews the lithostratigraphy, biostratigraphy, chronostratigraphy and paleoenvironmental setting of Cretaceous to Recent sediments of the Canterbury Basin, New Zealand. The review examines sediments of the Matakea to Otakou/Motunau Groups in the six petroleum exploration wells (Galleon-1, Endeavour-1, Clipper-1, Resolution-1, Ealing-1 and Kowai-1). The review is based on a large number of biostratigraphic analyses of existing and new sample material from the six wells and is supported by analysis of petrophysical logs and seismic sections.
