Mangahewa-4 was a vertical appraisal well drilled on the south western flank of the Mangahewa structure targeting gas in the McKee and Mangahewa Formations. The well was spudded on 1st August 2009 and reached a total depth of 4349m MD on 8th September 2009. The top of the McKee Formation was encountered at 3419m MD. Gas shows up to 6.41% T.G were observed in the Mangahewa Formation. Oil shows were obscured due to the use of synthetic drilling mud. The well was logged, cased, and cemented pending future testing.
