Assessment of Source Rock Quality in PEP 38618 and PEP 38619, southern onshore Northland Basin.

This report was provided for Origin Energy and reviews the expected kerogen quality and petroleum products of potential source rock units in PEP 38618 and PEP 38619, offshore Northland, North Island, New Zealand. Because no source rock units have been drilled to date in these permit areas the study relies analysis of correlative units in wells and outcrops in the surrounding regions, as well as recent GNS Science research on key controls on the oil and gas potentials of coaly source rocks in the Taranaki Basin. The primary focus of the study is to asses organic richness and the potential for generation of oil versus gas.
