This report was written by GNS for Genesis Energy, operators of PEP 38478, offshore Taranaki. It details palynological studies on the Te Ranga-1 well below 3600m and interpretation of depositional environments for the Taniwha Formation (3725.8-3756.1m) and directly overlying section using a mix of biostratigraphic data, core data, eletric logs, mud logs, side wall core descriptions and petrographic reports. These have shown Eocene/Paleocene marine sediments unconformably overlying mid-Cretaceous cross laminated sandstone from a terrestrial delta plain environment.
