Cheal-B2 was drilled as an appraisal/development well to further assess the Cheal oil field. The Cheal-B wellsite is located within PMP38156 onshore Taranaki and Cheal-B2 was spudded at 1200hrs on 29 October 2006 and drilled to a total depth of 1866m by 1500hrs 7 November 2006. Significant hydrocarbons were intersected and 5 1/2in production casing was run and set at 1861m. The hole was suspended to be tested after the full drilling programme (Cheal-B1, B3, B4) had been finished.
