Kaimiro-14 was drilled as a deviated exploration/appraisal well for the Kaimiro L site in PML38091. It was drilled to test structural and stratigraphic trapping potential within the Urenui Formation and at levels within the Mount Messenger Formation. Kaimiro-14 was drilled in the NE corner of the licence and was considered to be an important test of hydrocarbon potential north of the current production area. Drilling commenced on 25 January 1996 and was kicked off at 530 m where inclination was built up to 40 degrees by 937 m. The well was sidetracked and Kaimiro-14A was then kicked off on 25 January 1996 to reach a TD of 1843 m on 9 February 1996. The two targets resulted in poor oil and gas shows. Kaimiro-14A was plugged and suspended as uneconomic.
