Ngatoro-3 was drilled in PPL38706 during January/February 1993. Thin sand beds were encountered over the Upper Mt Messenger interval 1299 - 1320 m. Total gas peaked at 4.2 %, although SWCs indicated poor shows. Good permeability and porosity was evaluated from log and RFS data. The perforated interval was expected to be gas bearing. Two sands in the Moki interval were cored. Completion was carried out with the JFP Rig 17. Operations included drilling out the stage collar, displacing the well to 2 micron filtered water, wireline perforating two Mt Messenger intervals, running a permanent packer with TCP guns over the Moki and running a completion string to allow selective production. The well was then shut in pending mobilisation of production facilities.
