Geochemical Analyses of Selected Samples From the Te Ranga-1 Well, Taranaki Basin New Zealand.

This document contains the results and interpretation of various geochemical analyses conducted on selected samples from the Te Ranga-1 well in the Taranaki Basin. 4 samples from the Cretaceous Pakawau Group in the Te Ranga-1 well were geochemically analysed to: 1) determine the source potential of the Pakawau section; 2) characterize the chemical nature of bitumen generated by Pakawau sediments; and 3) determine the level of chemical maturity. It is concluded that the source potential of the Pakawau as indicated by these samples is fairly poor. A strong land plant derived chemical signature is apparent in the Pakawau extracts from this well. 2 samples may contain migrated hydrocarbons, with another 2 samples appearing to be slightly thermally immature.
