Seismic Interpretation of PPL 38125 South Taranaki Basin, NZ.

Login to download

An interpretation of the available seismic data in PPL 38125 has been completed at the request of Cluff Oil NZ Ltd. Three isochron maps have been constructed using 1983 and 1984 data, supplemented by older lines shot in 1968. Some of these lines have been reprocessed. Well control within the licence is restricted to Surville-1, a dry well drilled by NZAP in 1976. Other wells in adjacent licence areas have also been used to tie in the seismic horizons. Three horizons were mapped: 1. Red; apparent economic basement; 2. Blue; an horizon widely recognised throughout the offshore areas of Taranaki as the base or near base Oligo-Miocene Cobden Formation; and 3. Brown; an event particularly well developed in the southern part of the area that can be traced close to Surville-1.
