Rare Earth Mineral Exploration of the Hohonu Range: A Literature Review

This report summarises a comprehensive literature review undertaken by John Allen for Birchgrove Mining in assessment of rare earth element prospectivity of the the Hohonu batholith at permit MPP 60366. Focusing on the French Creek Granite and the Deutgam Granodiorite and associated outwash gravels, the report describes previous exploration work and reviews a number of research reports and prospectivity models and provides interpretation of airborne magnetometry and radiometric survey data. It concludes that anomalous REE (particularly HREE) levels have been detected, that the French Creek Granite displays potential for Ze-REE-Nb mineralisation, however significant follow-up reconnaissance work is required to determine targets and identify source rocks. The permit was surrendered in September 2018.
