PP54610 'Herbert Block' North Otago, New Zealand

This report details work completed in MPP 54610. The permit covers an area of approximately 382.24 km2 and is situated approximately 50 kilometres northeast of Dunedin extending northwards from Hampden to just south of State Highway 83 and encompassing the township of Herbert. The permit was awarded for the prospecting of glauconite, phosphate, sand and clay. A detailed mapping programme was undertaken in the permit area, with two mapping targets identified: the Waianakarua‐Herbert region; and Otepopo Greensand unit north along strike from Kuriheka Road, further north than previously mapped locations. Geochemical analysis of 63 samples from three high resolution transects collected to assess small scale variability of K20 laterally within the greensand is presented.
