This technical report is prepared by Sinosteel Australia Pty Ltd for Kawhia prospect (MEP54012), which is located along the west coast of the North Island. Sinosteel carried out reprocessing regional aeromagnetic and radiometric data, geological mapping programmes, geochemical analysis with the samples from short auger drilling program, and passive seismic geophysical surveying. Magnetic high anomalies were interpreted to by caused by the presence of magnetic ironsand deposits. Geological mapping identified only minor concentration of ironsand. Samples from the shallow auger drilling program were sent to SGS for XRF analysis, but the results did not provide encouraging ironsand grades. A further assessment for the data will be conducted to determine if additional work is warranted.
