ML 321676 Ridge Road Quarry, Bombay : Aggregate Reserves Investigation, North Auckland

A drilling investigation comprising three boreholes was completed at the Ridge Road Quarry Bombay to assess basalt extent, thickness and quality. This work was supplemented with geological and topographical surveys of the area. Utilising this information and borehole data supplied by the mining licence owners preliminary overburden and basalt volumes are presented. A further drilling programme comprising four fully cored boreholes is recommended to confirm the presence of basalt and determine overburden and basalt thickness. It is also necessary to determine the maximum overburden to basalt ratio which is economic for mining the quarry.
