This report assesses the potential of the West Coast ilmenite sands in light of the economic climate. It assesses deposits at Karamea North, Karamea South, Birchfield, Barrytown, New River, the area between Hokitika and the Taramakau River, Hokitika South, Ounatai, Saltwater, Gillespies, Hunts Beach and Bruce Bay. It recommends retaining the applications for prospecting licences over Barrytown and Hokitika South and withdrawing applications for the remaining areas.
