This report outlines a survey of the road aggregate of Stratford County during August, 1973. The survey concentrated on the eastern portion of the County east of Douglas on State Highway 43 to Tangarakau Gorge, where potential sources of aggregate are sparse but where there is a higher proportion of metalled access roads in generally steep and rugged country. It is concluded that the Manganui River Deposit off York Road should be developed and together with the Croyden Alluvium relied on a the major source of high quality aggregate for the County.
