This report presents the results of reconnaissance drainage and rock sampling undertaken in February and March 1990 on the Mt Kelvin exploration licence. Several areas, notably the Ohikanui River, Rough River, Atbara Creek, Totara Creek, Awakiri Creek and Giles Creek all have anomalous stream sediment, pan concentrate and/or rock geochemistry and require follow-up drainage sampling and close geological inspection. Significant mineralisation was found associated with quartz veins in granitic rocks close to the margin of the Paparoa Metamorphic Core Complex, a potential site for detachment-style mineralisation.
