This report summarises the work carried out on the Ourawera prospecting licence to November 1989 and includes a revision of previous work. It is possible that the gold at Round Hill and Orepuki (outside the licence area) has its source in the Longwood Ranges. The geology of the area is described in detail. Work has established that gold-platinum hard rock mineralisation could exist within the Ourawera licence area. The next stage of prospecting would include an intensive sampling programme of stream and surface float with mapping where applicable to quickly narrow down the potential area or areas of mineralisation.
