EL 33 296 included the contact zone between the Waiuta Group sediments, north and along strike of the Reefton Goldfield and the Cretaceous age Dunphy Granite which forms the axis of the Brunner Range. The area was considered prospective for disseminated sulphide or quartz lode gold mineralisation associated with the Waiuta Group sediments and gold mineralisation associated with exogreisen development or porphyry development within or marginal to the Dunphy Granite. A two stage programme and subsequent follow-up drainage and rock sampling was undertaken. No significant indications of mineralisation were located within the licence area.
