Report on prospecting licence 31907 Yuletide, Northwest Nelson, New Zealand to June 1988

This report summarises a programme of follow-up stream sediment/pan concentrate, float and outcrop rock sampling, and limited ridge and spur sampling carried out within the Old Hut - Colour Creeks anomaly area during late 1987. This work detected only minor gold mineralisation associated with the anomalous zone in the hanging wall of the Haupiri Thrust. Although it is concluded that the arsenic-gold soil anomaly is probably related to widespread low grade gold mineralisation it is considered that potential exists for smaller yet still significant-sized higher grade zones within the area. Further follow-up of this soil anomaly and other untested portions of the original drainage anomaly is recommended.
