The Red Hills-Bryant project is located east of Nelson. Two adjoining exploration licences cover the project area (EL 33340 and EL 33334), however field work was carried out only on the southern Licence (EL 33334 Red Hills). The exploration objective was to assess the platinum group metals and gold and base metal potential of the Dun Mountain Ophiolite Belt. Sampling confirmed the existence of alluvial platinoids in the Long Gully area ( up to 6.1 ppm iridium) and located chromite mineralisation (10.4% Cr, 0.6 ppm Pt, 0.12 ppm Pd). Although some platinium group elements are anomalous, the known small size of the chromitite bodies does not allow sufficient aggregate tonnage for an economic resource.
