Photogeological investigation of the Takaka area, Northwest Nelson, New Zealand

Login to download

This report describes a Photogeological investigation of the Takaka area, NW Nelson. The major outcome of the study has been the delineation of flat-lying allochthonous sheets resting upon steeply-dipping strata of Cambro-Ordovician age at several localities within the central terrane. The latter sequence contains interbedded chert and ferruginous bands of possible economic significance. Circular features in the north portion of the study area may be spatially related to Mesozoic satellite stocks of the Separation Point Batholith and accordingly provide targets for further investigation.
