Report on PL 311194 Waingaro River, North West Nelson, New Zealand, to May 1986

This report describes exploration on the Waingaro River prospecting licence to May, 1986. A helicopter supported regional geochemical and geological sampling programme was undertaken and included detailed sampling of the Waingaro River and its tributaries between No Name Creek and the Devil River. Petrological studies of the basemetal mineralisation from Lucifer Creek were also carried out. Results from prospecting identified six drainage areas within the Licence warranting further prospecting: No Name Creek, Lucifer Creek, Waingaro River tributaries GR 881240, 872219 and 888216 and Little Devil River. Further work should include geological mapping, stream sediment, pan concentrate and float/outcrop rock sampling.
