This report deals with the surface geology of the central and eastern part of the Shell BP and Todds Taranaki Concession. It is based on fieldwork carried out by P.F. Hicks, I.A.G Willis, P.W. Stainton and J.G. Leevers, with assistance of four university students during 1962-63 summer season. Data from earlier work has been extensively used to supplement the results of the recent survey. The purpose of the recent mapping was to obtain a reliable geological map and an idea about the thicknesses of the various formations for the interpretation of the seismic sections being shot in this part of the concession.
