Because of the renewed interest in Paparoa coal it has been decided to published, as a coal report the results of an investigation made in November 1952 by Mr R Suggate. The Investigation was to study the variations in swelling properties of Paparoa coal and to estimate the nature of the future output of the mine. In addition to individual geological information, individual coals were analysed and blends were made of coal from various areas where swelling properties differed.
