Preliminary Geotechnical Assessment - Kaitangata Coalfield

During the summer of 1981/82 a reconnaissance drilling programme was carried out in Kaitangata Coalfied by Lime and Marble Ltd. The 23 hole programme comprised 3728 metres of openhole drilling and 355 metres of coring. Two shallow, fully cored holes were also drilled at SCMs pit (3026, 3027) and two holes drilled by the Kai Point Coal Co. were also used (3024, 3025). The geotechnical assessment was to provide information for an interim feasibility and to identify areas of data deficiencies.
