Assessment of proposed Pit Bottom pillars

Login to download

This report assess the proposed pillar design for the new pit bottom. Numerical modelling was used to investigate whether the particular geometry proposed was likely to have any unexpected impacts. The pillars are considered large enough to obviate any potential for sudden collapse. It is recommended that special attention is given to the reinforcement and maintenance of rib stability, particularly those ribs higher than 3.2 m.
