Reconnaisance biostratigraphic work in Cretaceous-Eocene terrestial strata of Westland and Nelson, undetaken for NZ Geological Survey Cretaceous- Cenozoic Project, showed that in the Greymouth coalfiled, Ppamoa Coal Measures deposition straddled the Cretaceous- Palaeocene boundry. The report was an investigation to find of palynological data can provide a usuable datum for structural interpretation. Two drillhole cored sequence were sampled, D621 & D622, at approximately 10-20 m intervals in the section of interest.
