Proposed new mine at Rewanui, Greymouth coalfield: Additional comments on S44/CR34

Login to download

Structure, seam correlations and the bases of estimates given in report s44/cr34 have been reconsidered. The revised, more conservative, estimates total 2,600,000 of indicated recoverable coal. The estimate for the main horizon, No.4 Seam, is reduced by only 70,000 ton to 1,420,000 tons, of which about half lies in the eastern block largely below spark and Party`s (No.5 Seam?) workings. To reach No.4. Seam at workable thickness in a drillhole and to avoid structural complications a new hole is suggested. At the suggested site, a hole has reasonable prospects of cutting three, perhaps more workable seams.
