Organs Island Geology Report

This report includes mainly the seismic work carried out in the Organs Island for EP 51016 to determine whether the Brunner Coal Measures occur at depth beneath the Tertiary cover. The 4.97 km of 2D seismic survey results revealed that the coal sequence occurs at depths that are currently beyond the limits of conventional underground mining in NZ. However, FMG suggested that the permit area could prove to be an attractive target for coal seam gas exploration. Geological mapping results were not provided due to the absence of the outcrops in the target area.
