Drillhole 20085 was drilled to provide information on the northern extent of the proposed Ohinewai pit. The primary objectives of the drilling were to investigate the geotechnical properties of the overburden material to further develop the engineering geological model for the Ohinewai area; to gain more information regarding the coal quality characteristics and to install long term piezometric monitoring of the interconnection between the regional groundwater regime and the adjacent Waikato River.
