Maramarua coalfield, Kopuku sector mining study: Geological summary report

Login to download

This report serves to document the geological exploration activities conducted in the abbreviated feasibility study, and should be considered a status report on data gathered to date rather than a final report. A total of 52 exploration and geotechnical drillholes, of an aggregate of 10 209m, were completed in the exploration programme between February and October 1986. Most drilling (88%) was undertaken by open hole methods to minimise costs and to complete the drilling in the shortest possible timeframe. A complete suite of downhole geophysical logs was run on all drillholes by BPB Instruments Ltd. High Resolution Shallow Seismic (HRSS) survey of 14.6 line kilometers in 12 lines was condusted by Velocity Data Pty Ltd in April 1986. HRSS proved successful in refining the structure of the coalfield more accurately and with less cost than closely spaced drillings. Report consists of 6 volumes.
