Problems with high resolution seismic data recorded early 1984 for State Coal Mines

Login to download

In a high resolution seismic survey there are several critical factors in obtaining consistent data quality that can be properly processed to provide interpretable seismic sections. These factors relate to; shot size and position and geophone coupling. In the survey carried out in 1984 by South Eastern Exploration there would appear to be a lack of experimental work carried out on the above factors resulting in poor quality data. It was concluded that the Rapahoe area, better high resolution data could be obtained by using small charges placed below the quaternarry layer. This would necessitate deeper shot holes in most locations compared to the fixed 10m shot depth previously used.
