The existing allocation for drilling on the Ohai Coalfield has been used to issue three drilling contracts. Two of these contracts have been to establish reserves for Wairaki mine. The third contract has been directed towards scout drilling which has the aim establishing whether areas at present unexplored contain coal reserves.
