Geology of New Creek-Pensini Creek Area, Lyell, Murchison

Login to download

A syncline of Tertiary rocks cut across by the Buller River was examined and two stratigraphic columns built up, one in the Pensini Creek area and Steel Bridge, Lyell. These results are indicated in the attached cross section CSM-787. Coal measures are thin or absent on the east side at the Steel Bridge and in Pensini coal measures are noted in an early map, but owing to the fault contact there is no evidence for or against the presence of coal measures at the base of Tertiary beds.
